REVEALED: Northeast Dallas leads top ten most popular neighborhoods among homebuyers in the US - with LA's Hollywood Hills close on its heels

Location, location, location is at the top of every home buyer's wish list and Northeast Dallas is top of the hotspots in the US.

The right neighborhood can be pivotal when it comes to access to good schools, reliable public transport, proximity to work and how safe the area feels.

Real estate website HouseFresh has now ranked the neighborhoods American buyers are currently most interested in moving to, compiled from Zillow sales listing data from America's 100 most populous cities. Here are the top ten most popular locations... 


Northeast Dallas

1. Northeast Dallas, Texas

Northeast Dallas won the popularity contest, raking in 36,113 daily listing views from hopeful buyers. The family friendly area may have garnered popularity with commuters as it sits just a 20-minute drive from downtown Dallas, while offering a more suburban experience to the hustle and bustle of inner city life. 

The average home here is also more affordable than some of its popular rival areas, at $465,173, as calculated by Zillow. 

Northeast Dallas is a Democrat leaning neighborhood in the Republican state.

 

Hollywood Hills

2. Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, California

Just pipped to the post and ranking second on the list is the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles in California. 

A home here is considerably more expensive than Dallas with the average buyer being set back $1,976,858.

The area boasts excellent public schools and the chance to run into a celebrity, such as Leonardo DiCaprio or Jennifer Aniston, while you're out running errands.

The Hollywood Hills fits in with the state's overall Democrat voting pattern.

 

Camelback East in Phoenix, Arizona

3. Camelback East in Phoenix, Arizona

Also in the Southwest is the popular area of Camelback East in Phoenix, Arizona.

The neighborhood pulled in 30,366 daily views on Zillow, which is unsurprising given the area's competitive housing market. 

The average buyer is paying $565,000 for a home here, down 3.8 percent since last year. 

The area is Republican leaning, putting it in accord with the Republican run state.

 

La Jolla in San Diego, California

4. La Jolla in San Diego, California

Another California area attracting buyers is the expensive La Jolla in sunny San Diego. 

The seaside area on California's rugged coastline trumps Hollywood for expense, with the average home selling for $2,064,323. 

It is also a Blue voting area popular with golfers and nature lovers keen to take advantage of the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and the Shell Beach tide pools.

 

Upper East Side in New York, NY

5. Upper East Side in New York, NY

Made famous around the world in numerous TV shows from Gossip Girl to Succession, the real estate of Upper East Side Manhattan has long captured the popular imagination. 

Home to the super-rich, the average home is bought for $1,308,355, a 5.2 percent drop on the previous year.

For the cultured the area offers inexhaustible galleries and museums on Museum Mile, and for those with a need for greenery Central Park is just a stone's throw away. 

Manhattan is a Democrat leaning area of New York. 

 

North Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona

6. North Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona

The Summerlin North area of Las Vegas has attracted much attention from prospective buyers. 

Homebuyers hopeful to secure a place here will have to fork out an average $547,652.

The narrowly Democrat leaning area offers a suburban feel with an array of coffee shops and parks. Most residents own their own homes rather than rent, which can help build a feeling of longer-term community.

 

Elkhorn in Omaha, Nebraska

8. Elkhorn in Omaha, Nebraska

The Elkhourn neighborhood of Omaha has risen in popularity recently, reflected in its 4.7% increase in house prices in the last year.

Homes are selling for an average $471,183 in this charming suburb of Omaha. 

The area is currently Democrat leaning but is often a political battleground.

 

Lake View in Chicago, Illinois

9. Lake View in Chicago, Illinois

Democrat leaning Lake View on the North Side of Chicago and bordering the shore of Lake Michigan has made it into the top 10 neighborhoods of interest. 

Although a wealthy area, homes here are reasonably affordable at an average of $356,788. 

The neighborhood is known for its dining scene and offers a safer neighborhood feel than other areas of Chicago with a 39% lower crime rate than the Chicago average, according to the website federalcos.com.

 

Deer Valley in Phoenix, Arizona

10. Deer Valley in Phoenix, Arizona

One more Phoenix neighborhood squeaked onto the top 10 list, finishing off with Deer Valley in Phoenix. 

The area is popular with hikers and mountain bikers and offers the Wet ’n’ Wild Phoenix waterpark for kids. 

Homebuyers will need an average $408,286 to buy in this Republican voting area.
